It’s a heck of a thing, trying to be an online entrepreneur.

You spend hours writing blog posts and reading all you can about how to get more traffic to your site.  You stare at your blog, wondering when your efforts will produce the results you need.

And yet you’re all alone. Even the family dog is ignoring you.

About Chris Brogan’s Blog

“When I think of ways to make money, I fail. When I think of ways to serve people, I make money.”  – Chris Brogan

It would be very difficult to have a post about online entrepreneurs without writing about Chris Brogan’s site.

In case you don’t know who Mr. Brogan is, he’s CEO of Owner Media Group.  He is also a big-time public speaker and New York Times bestselling author.  (I didn’t count how many books he’s published, but it is significant.)

He’s been a consultant to some of the top companies in the world, like Google, Disney, Coke and GM, to mention a few.

I could write a lot more about Chris’s long list of accomplishments, but that would make this a massive post.  I will tell you that Chris has one of the best resource blogs on the planet for taking your business to the next level.

He also has several world-class courses and consulting services you can use.

In case you’re a little depressed with your blogging efforts, Chris is a model of perseverance.  Turns out he blogged for 8 years before he got his first 100 readers.

However, that changed slightly.  He now has a readership of over 200,000 of them.

The takeaway: DON’T GIVE UP.

Brogan’s Site: You can Learn Something Valuable Here

Chris’ Blogging site is called Chris Brogan .com. (what else?)

It doesn’t take very long to figure out that this man means business. He also likes to help people.  Immediately you’re greeted with his company’s mission statement which says,

Use media and community to earn customers. I’m here to help.”

He also had a listing of 3 courses you could take.  But since I liked his mission statement so much, I signed up for his mailing list.

Immediately I got his confirmation email.  In it, he stated that if you send in a question, you’ll get an answer…from him or his business partner.

To quote the email directly, it said:

“There’s one last thing I wanted to tell you. You can HIT at any time and you’ll reach us directly. We’re different that way. You have direct access at any time.

Try it out. Reply to this and tell me a bit about you, if you want. I’ll answer. (And if you reply to Rob’s emails, he writes back too!).”

I’m thinking, “Yeah, right…Now I’ve heard it all.”

So I sent him an email and asked some rather lame questions.

Guess what?  I got a response from the man himself!   Granted, it wasn’t the Magna Carta, but it was a response.

I tried it again.

I got another response.  I know he’s a technology kinda guy, so maybe he’s got a robot that answers these questions…Nah…

Chris Brogan Means Business

Read Chris Brogan’s Posts to Gain Real Value

On his home page, you can scroll down to Chris’s blog posts.  Almost all feature a picture of Chris doing something; it’s funny and kind of unique at the same time.

The only thing I found to be a bummer about the posts was the fact that you had no place to comment. If he’s getting a ton of comments plus he’s answering all his email questions, I guess he won’t have the time for them.

Now, I have a confession to make.  Before writing this post, I knew very little about Mr. Brogan. The marketer, Neil Patel, featured Chris’s “About Me” page in one of his posts and that’s all I knew.

So, I had no bias one way or the other about who he was or what he was about.

The fact that he seemed so genuine in his approach to helping people, made his courses seem more valuable.  You feel like this guy actually wants you to succeed.

Not only that, but his courses were not expensive, considering his reputation.

Chris Brogan’s Lessons on Blogging

I read through a blog post by Chris called “Blogging as a Business Asset”.  It wasn’t long ― just over 1000 words, but it nailed down exactly why and how you should blog.

The main take-away:

When you’re writing posts, you should try to connect with your audience on a personal level.

In Chris’s words, “The thing is, we need to use USEFUL stories to earn the opportunity to connect with our readers.”

He also emphasized the importance of having outstanding service.

The thing that I love about guys like Chris Brogan is he gives you a ton of information… for FREE!

Even though you need to pay to get into his courses, you can learn a ton from him that’s super valuable. He even gave out his outline for blogging that looks like this:

  • Great title
  • The picture that catches the eye
  • The first paragraph leads people in with something a bit personal Subhead reiterates the primary point
  • A Second paragraph is the most important concept I need to get across
  • Subhead starts an example
  • The third paragraph (and 4th sometimes) are examples to extrapolate or explain the point.
  • The last subhead and paragraph are calls to action of some kind

If I were you, I’d print that out and put it right next to your computer to look at while you’re writing your blog posts.

Note: Actually, this is the same formula copywriters have been using for centuries.  This is why I highly recommend that you take a copywriting course.

Chris Brogan also has another site called Owner Media Group. This site sells his premium marketing courses that teach skills you’ll need to succeed. The value I got from look at this site is looking at the way it was set up.

If you’re selling a course, you would do well to take a look at how it’s done.

Conclusion

If you’re trying to be a success online with your business, you should visit Chris Brogan’s site. If you’ve got the money, you should also invest in one of his courses.

Let’s face it, succeeding online isn’t easy and you need to learn as much as you can from people that know what they’re doing.
